D Block to Public Safety

In multiple conferences call late this afternoon, senior administration officials stated that the administration will support legislation to reallocate the D Block to public safety and designate funds from an incentive auction of spectrum (other than the D Block) to be designated to fund the network. It is unlikely that the President will provide specific details but may make reference to it in some manner this evening. The details will be in the President’s budget message will be released in about two weeks. Reportedly this will be a priority as the nation moves toward the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
